Events & Competitions

The Youth Rail Enthusiasts Association regularly hosts exciting competitions and events. They are designed to engage the young railway community by helping them to have a good time, learn new skills and meet new people. We’d like to invite you to explore the range of events we have coming soon – new dates are being added all the time so be sure to read our latest news.

Past events have included trips to stations, railway depot tours, train simulator visits and diesel gala weekends. We hold regular competitions such as Video Fest as well as others throughout the year. From time to time we also partner up with other groups and websites for our events to bring communities closer together. Regular fun interactive games also take place on our community forums and we regularly fundraise for good causes. You can explore some of our regular competitions and events with the menu on the right hand side.

Class 185 Simulator - May 30th 2014
The Youth Rail Enthusiasts Association is very excited to announce a long-awaited visit to experience the First TransPennine Express class 185 simulator, based at their depot in York, on May 30th 2014. The experience includes the opportunity for a small group of YREA members to drive the class 185 Pennine DMU train for around 15 minutes. The experience replicates the type of conditions a First TransPennine Express train driver deals with on a day-to-day basis. Tickets will be randomly allocated: Request a Ticket!

Video Fest 2014 - November 1st 2014
In this year’s Video Fest we’ll be celebrating as we reach the milestone of our 5th competition with a special celebration of our popular annual event.

Can you help?

If you work at a preserved railway, depot, museum or other place of interest on the railway we can show you the benefits of having a visit from a group of members from the the Youth Rail Enthusiasts Association. To find out more please contact us for information about group visits.
